Tips for Hiking

Everyone is probably excited to go out hiking and see the colorful leaves; however, the autumn weather can harm our backs. The cold air causes our spine muscles to tense up and causes pain. Before going hiking, there are some proactive steps you should take. You should wear hiking boots or walking shoes. Having the right shoes will provide support for your back. If you’re new to hiking, walk around your neighborhood or in a park a few times before you go on a long trail to train your legs, feet, and back. It’s also important that you stretch before going hiking. Stretching helps to reduce stress in your muscles and joints and circulates your blood flow better. If you experience any severe back pain after hiking, schedule an appointment with William Capicotto as soon as possible at (716) 881-0382.
